Black River Health Center Expanded & Renovated

The delivery of primary healthcare to residents of Black River, St. Elizabeth has been boosted following the recent expansion and renovation of the Black River Health Centre. The facility now offers services relating to maternal and child health, as well as curative, dental, dressing, women’s health, nutrition, environmental health, mental health and child guidance.

The government is to spend approximately 50 million dollars to build four water shops in St. Elizabeth. St. Elizabeth is the latest parish to benefit under the Government’s initiative to construct water shops as a way of addressing water shortage in parishes that traditionally suffer severe drought conditions.

A new weather radar is to be installed at the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, to enhance the agency’s ability to effectively monitor weather patterns. Set for completion by summer next year, the installation forms part of the Climate Data Project being implemented by the Planning Institute of Jamaica PIOJ.
