Audley Shaw calling CARICOM partners to help Lobby US Government on Medical Cannabis.

Plans are in motion by the Government to lobby the United States Government to lead the way in legitimize the treatment of licensed cannabis growers and processors in its correspondent banking infrastructure with US Banks. While marijuana is legally available in some form in several American states most US banks do not handle money earned from the cannabis industry for fear it could expose them to legal trouble from the federal government, which still considers marijuana illegal. In June Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Audley Shaw stated that Government would be using all of its diplomatic channels to petition the American Government, mainly through its Treasury Department, to loosen its financial laws and address the issue.
