After spending months, preparing the land and planting crops, 47 farmers in Flagaman St Elizabeth, lost not only their crops but also farming equipment in a fire in the area recently. The Rural Agricultural Development Authority RADA estimates the damages at over 45 million dollars. However, work is now underway to help the farmers get on the road to recovery. Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce Agriculture and Fisheries JC Hutchinson, who toured the affected farms on Tuesday, says the ministry will be helping the farmers to prepare the land for replanting.
