Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) in the public and private sectors are being encouraged to register for the Caribbean CFO Summit, slated for March 24 and 25.
The annual summit is a virtual event that brings together CFOs, finance leaders, regulators, business owners and entrepreneurs from across the region.
It will focus on training, information sharing on practical insights geared towards improving not just how finance professionals operate but also preparing them for the future.
The event is being staged by Signature Creed and Associates (SCA), a local firm that provides audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client base across various industries.
Speaking at a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Think Tank on March 16, Partner at SCA, Kevon McIntosh, indicated that the goal of the summit is to ensure that finance professionals learn as much as they can on how they can be the CFOs of the future.
“Persons who register for the summit will be able to get 13 CPD hours, that’s continuing professional development hours, so that you can apply those to your total for the year, which is a large amount, given that for most persons you need 40 hours for the year,” Mr. McIntosh stated.
“We’ll cover two different days with 10 speakers each day, so that’s about 20 different speakers. Going from strategic sessions, panel discussions, keynote presentations, round tables – all geared towards covering multiple topics across economic growth, private sector growth, turnarounds, using insurance as a protective measure,” he noted.
He further disclosed that discussions will be held on a specialised area of the profession that has quickly become a niche market.
“We have topics around what you need to be successful as a fractional CFO. Fractional CFO is a niche in the industry or a segment of the industry but it’s growing. So, for the CFOs that are looking to join and looking to go in that market, we have someone coming to speak on that,” he added.
To register for the summit persons can visit caribbeancfosummit.com.
“The registration fee is US$350 per person and then US$1,500 for a group of five. It will be hosted on a platform called ON24. So, once participants register, the week leading up to the summit, which is this week, you’ll get an e-mail that gives you access to that platform,” he explained.
One of the keynote speakers will be the Bank of Jamaica Governor, Richard Byles, and Vice President of Budget and Procurement at the World Bank Group, Dr. Samuel Munzele Maimbo.
Signature Creed is partnering with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Dollar Financials, and Barita Investments to stage the event.
