Public Advisory – Independence Celebrations

Motorists and members of the public are being advised that in order to facilitate the smooth staging of events during the Independence celebrations, the following traffic changes and parking arrangements will be instituted.

Motorists and members of the public are being advised that in order to facilitate the smooth staging of events during the Independence celebrations, the following traffic changes and parking arrangements will be instituted.

Patrons attending the Grand Gala scheduled to be held at the National Stadium on Saturday, August 6 are being advised that at 12:00 midday, Arthur Wint Drive will be turned into a one-way going east towards the National Stadium.

Motorists travelling from this direction will turn left on Roosevelt Road, right on  Stanton Terrace, right on Mountain View Avenue, right on Arthur Wint Drive and into the car park.

There will be a police check-point at Roosevelt Road and Stanton Terrace. Only vehicles with VIP passes will be allowed to enter Roosevelt towards the Stadium.

Residents of Stadium Gardens will be able to leave and enter the community by using Arthur Wint Drive as a one-way going east only.

No parking will be allowed on Roosevelt Road, Arthur Wint Drive, Latham Avenue, Stanton Terrace and Mountain View Avenue.

Meanwhile, patrons are being reminded that no firearms, knives, ice picks, machetes, aerosol sprays, large igloos, glass bottles, frozen water or drinks, DVD or video recorders, alcohol and umbrellas with pointed tips will be allowed inside the venue.

Licensed firearm holders are being advised to make arrangements for the safekeeping of their firearms, as no provisions will be made at the venue or at the Stadium Police.

Patrons are also being reminded that all persons entering the stadium will be subject to search.

Vendors are being warned that vending will not be tolerated outside the designated areas.

Members of the public are being advised to adhere to the directives of the Police.
