The Full Story

The Private Security Regulation Authority (PSRA), has intensified its efforts to set standards for the private security industry to deliver quality service since 2009.
“The PSRA ensured that the National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica Level One Standards in Security Operations were completed and circulated to all security companies,” says Minister of National Security, Senator the Hon. Dwight Nelson.
He added that this standard is now the basic training requirement for all security guards, and will ultimately be mandatory for registration in the next three years.
Senator Nelson was speaking during his contribution to the 2009/10 State of the Nation Debate in the Senate on Friday (Jan. 22).
The PSRA is a Statutory Body which falls under the Ministry of National Security and is charged with the responsibility of monitoring and regulating the operations of: contract security organisations; proprietary security organisations; private security guards; private investigators and security trainers.
