The Full Story

Ports Security Corps Limited (PSC) will continue work to ensure that all regulations governing safeguards at Jamaica’s air and seaports are enforced.

This, in accordance with International Ship and Port Facility Security, and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) security standards.

To guarantee ongoing operational sustainability and maintain high-quality service delivery, PSC will target the implementation of a range of strategies throughout fiscal year 2024/25.

Details of these are outlined in the Jamaica Public Bodies Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Fiscal Year ending March 2025.

The programmed engagements include PSC’s prioritising ongoing officer re-certification in alignment with ICAO and Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) regulations.

The PSC will also review and revise operating policies in order to improve operational efficiency.

Additionally, the entity will be seeking to improve staffing levels through increased recruitment and training of security officers.

The PSC will further look to increase the provision of security services by an average of 10 per cent for the budget year.

The entity anticipates a net surplus of $31.12 million from its activities, with a projected staff complement of 918.

The PSC was incorporated in 1989 under the Companies Act of Jamaica, with the primary mandate to protect the island’s ports of entry, tourism product and export trade in the national interest.

The entity’s mission is to achieve the highest level of integrity of security services provided at sea and airports, through the development and deployment of a professional cadre of officers.
