Monex, the facility which repairs and produces prosthetic limbs at the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre will reopen this afternoon after the intervention of Health Minister, Hon. Rudyard Spencer.
Minister Spencer this afternoon met with Senator Mark Golding, officials from the South East Regional Health Authority and the Ministry of Health to discuss the issue of the recent closure of the prosthetic facility.
Minister Spencer says “the facility is very important especially to the poor as it has assisted a large number of persons and so its continued operation is essential.”
Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre is the only public facility in Jamaica that offers prostheses. It also offers physiotherapy, speech therapy, counseling and social support.
