Promoters and organizers of events are invited to submit these activities for inclusion in the Jamrock Summer promotional programme, being spearheaded by the entertainment division of the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment.

These activities, which include film, dance, fashion, food, literary arts and other entertainment events, will have to be staged between May 15 and August 15, 2015, to qualify for inclusion and to benefit from local and international marketing support. Submissions must be made to the Ministry by Friday, February 13.

The marketing thrust is part of the Ministry’s initiative dubbed: ‘Jamrock Summer – 90 Days 90 Ways’. Launched in July 2014, the project is aimed at promoting Jamaica as a year-round entertainment destination.

The initiative covers the months of June, July and August and will see a major push being made towards attracting international visitors to the island, as well as encouraging Jamaicans to support local entertainment activities across the country.

“We have taken all of our events that are going on during these 90 days of summer and packaged them in a way that it is easy to sell. From the festivals to culinary activities, sporting activities and fashion shows… For years, people see Jamaica as a place they can escape for the winter, so we are now pushing to promote Jamaica as a place where they can go and enjoy themselves during the summer,” Tourism and Entertainment Minister, Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeill, highlighted at the launch.

For further details on the ‘Jamrock Summer – 90 Days 90 Ways’ initiative or the submission of events, persons may contact the Ministry at 920-4926-30 or email: entertainment@mot.gov.jm.
