President of the United States (US), Barack Obama, has expressed his delight to be in Jamaica, and wishes for the deep relationship between the two countries to remain for generations.
The President wrote in the Official Guest Book at Jamaica House on Thursday, April 9, that it is his wish that the “abiding friendship between our nations” continues.
Following is the text of what the President wrote.
“It is a great pleasure to visit Jamaica, known for its beauty and the extraordinary spirit of its people. May the deep and abiding friendship between our nations continue for generations to come.”
The President was welcomed by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller. He was at Jamaica House to hold bilateral talks with the Jamaican Government.
President Obama, who arrived in the island on April 8, will also engage in other activities today, including a CARICOM-US Summit at the University of the West Indies, Regional Headquarters; a Youth Forum at the University of the West Indies; and a wreath laying ceremony at National Heroes Park.
He will leave Jamaica later today for Panama to attend the Seventh Summit of the Americas.
