The Full Story

The Government intends to commence the Port Antonio Bypass Project in the new fiscal year, says Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness.

Speaking today (March 21) during the 2024/25 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives, Mr. Holness said that the bypass will unfold in two phases.

“Phase 1 is from Norwich to Turtle Crawl Harbour (7 km) and Phase 2 is from Turtle Crawl Harbour to Boston Bay (11 km), aligning with the goals of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project,” he said.

Phase 1 is estimated to cost approximately US$82 million and should last around 24 months.

The aim is to “improve access to the growing town and to mitigate… coastal risks,” Mr. Holness said.
