Persons who wish to cast their ballots in the Local Government Elections on Monday, February 26, can do so between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, told JIS News that some 6,726 polling stations will be open across the island to accommodate the thousands of Jamaicans who intend to exercise their franchise.

“What we would like to say to the public first is, before you even come to the polling station, you need to determine and ensure that you know exactly where your polling station is located,” he said.

To find out where to vote, electors are asked to call the Electoral Office of Jamaica’s (EOJ) toll-free helpline at 888-991-VOTE (8683) or visit the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) website at https://ecj.com.jm/ and click on the ‘Check My Status’ feature.

Mr. Brown informed that there are 2.1 million registered voters on the current Voter’s List.

A total of 499 candidates will be contesting the elections in 298 divisions plus the Portmore Mayoral position.

More than 30,000 persons have been engaged as Election Day Workers, including presiding officers, poll clerks, supervisors, drivers, logistics coordinators and handymen.
