Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, is expected to provide an update to the nation today (October 26) regarding new measures aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The current COVID-19 measures, which became effective from Saturday, September 18 are slated to end on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Since March 10, 2020, the Government has employed the Disaster Risk Management Act as the primary legislative tool to manage the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Speaking at Tuesday’s (October 26) virtual COVID Conversations press briefing, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon Christopher Tufton, said the update will be provided during the sitting of the House of Representatives.

“The Hon. Prime Minister will address the new measures, which have been the subject of Cabinet deliberations and consultations… . When one set of orders expires then he addresses the issues based on the advice he has received and the discussions and decisions of Cabinet and announces measures going forward,” he noted.
