Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller on Friday morning, May 9, opened the new office building for Guardsman Armoured Limited on South Camp Road, downtown Kingston.
Congratulating the company, the Prime Minister said the new building represents another expression of confidence by a private sector entity in the potential of the Jamaican economy to grow beyond its current boundaries.
The Prime Minister told the gathering that the construction of the new building accords with the government objective to grow the economy on a foundation of unity. The Prime Minister said that while it was government’s responsibility to provide a favourable environment for economic growth, it was the private sector that must be the engine for growth in a market-driven economy.
The new facility was a demonstration of “confident entrepreneurship” by the Guardsman Group and its chairman Hon. Kenny Benjamin, as “at every step in its history of over 48 years of service, the Guardsman Group has always taken the decision to invest and grow,” the Prime Minister said.
