PM Makes Budget Debate Presentation Today

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, will make his contribution to the 2023/24 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday (March 16).
He is expected to highlight accomplishments and speak on matters relating to housing, water, the environment, national security, among other national imperatives.
The Prime Minister’s presentation comes against the background of Jamaica’s full recovery from COVID-19, with unprecedented growth across various sectors and record low unemployment.
There have been significant investments in physical infrastructure through the provision of housing, road and water projects, and in bringing internet access to citizens in communities islandwide.
Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke, opened the Budget Debate on March 7, when he outlined how the Government’s trillion-dollar expenditure for the upcoming fiscal year will be funded.
Opposition spokesperson on Finance, Julian Robinson, responded in his contribution to the Debate on Thursday, March 9, while Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding, made his presentation on Tuesday, March 14.
Dr. Clarke will conclude the Debate on Tuesday, March 21.
