PM Holness Pays Tribute to the Hon William McConnell O.J, on His Death

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has hailed William McConnell O.J., C.D., J.P., F.C.A., as a trailblazer, nation builder and inspiration to a generation of industry professionals and innovators.

The Prime Minister expressed sincere condolences to the family, friends and associates of Mr McConnell and confirmed that Jamaica has lost one of its important sons who championed its development and modernization.

In that regard, Prime Minister Holness added that Mr McConnell was not only a businessman but a nation builder who advocated for sustainable and progressive policies that would boost employment and spur economic growth. He credited Mr McDonnell for his tremendous work with the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) as well as his various stints on state boards.

Prime Minister Holness also noted Mr McConnell’s efforts at encouraging a liberalized free market as well as his championing the removal of foreign exchange controls, created the environment where private business could prosper and enhanced the ability of entrepreneurs to develop competitive enterprises.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government and people of Jamaica owe a debt of gratitude to Mr McConnell for his vision and dedication to the development of Jamaica and its people.
