The Full Story

KINGSTON — Prime Minister Bruce Golding says Government has no designs or intention to take over the Nuttall lands in Cross Roads which are owned by the Anglican Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.

In response to the recent statements made by the General Manager of the Urban Development Corporation, Mr Golding said that the UDC has made proposals for amendments to the UDC Act but he clarified that those proposals have not yet been considered by the Cabinet and are still at a preliminary stage.

He reaffirmed the policy of the Government to facilitate and expand public/private partnerships for growth and development. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of stakeholder consultations and said that it is regretted that statements were made which gave an incorrect impression of the Government’s policy position and intention.
