The Full Story
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, has called on Jamaicans to work with her to build a brighter future for the country.
Making her presentation in the 2014/15 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on April 29, Mrs. Simpson Miller acknowledged that there are challenges and “it has not been easy”.
She noted however, “that in situations like ours, growth and development processes are complex and do not happen overnight.”
“Governance is not a linear process. We all have to work long and hard to see success,” the Prime Minister said.
She assured that the Government is working to get the nation where it needs to go.
“We are building a stronger economy which borrows less, produces more, and delivers more growth and a better quality of life for all Jamaicans,” Mrs. Simpson Miller said.
The Prime Minister said she is “resolute, confident and sure of positive outcomes,” as the Government goes for growth and development, working together with the people.
“We are working together with local communities. We are working together with the private sector. We are working together with the international partners. We are working together with civil society. We are working together with all our stakeholders.
This gives me hope for the present and the future,” Mrs. Simpson Miller said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the country cannot now throw away the sacrifices and gains. “We must all work that much harder. We must stay the course. It is time. We already know we can. Now we are at ‘Yes we will’,” she urged.
