The Full Story

The Maritime Authority of Jamaica, in collaboration with the Port Authority of Jamaica, is advancing plans to implement a maritime single window to streamline the clearance processes for ships arriving at Jamaica’s ports.

This was noted by Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator Dr. the Hon. Dana Morris Dixon, during yesterday’s (September 18) post-Cabinet press briefing, at iTel’s corporate office in St. Andrew.

She explained that the move aligns with Jamaica’s steps to join the Convention on the Facilitation of Maritime Traffic, which mandates the use of a digital platform for ship clearance.

Senator Morris Dixon said the single window will improve efficiency, reduce emissions and eliminate paper-based systems, reducing ship waiting times.

“This is all a part of our general effort towards positioning Jamaica as a key logistics hub in the world,” the Minister added.
