One million Jamaica 50 commemorative pins will go on sale starting Friday June 29th, when the Jamaica 50 Secretariat launches its One Million Pins (OMP) Initiative at the National Senior Championships at the National Stadium.
The OMP Initiative seeks to rally one million Jamaicans to begin a tradition of passing down this memorabilia from generation to generation.
Jamaica 50 Project Director, Robert Bryan said that there is significant interest in the pins, with more than 45,000 already per-ordered.
The collection features four pieces – Pin of Pride Gold, Pin of Pride Coloured, Pin of Pride Antique, and Pin of Pride Green and Gold.
Each pin will be sold for $700 and will be available at the official Jamaica 50 Shop at the Grandstand, National Stadium, for the duration of the trails, which end on July 1, and at the Things Jamaican stores as of July 6.
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, who will speak at the opening ceremony of the trials, will receive her pin at the event.
The specially choreographed opening segment, produced by the Jamaica 50 Secretariat, will feature major dance groups and musical performances.
