Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller told employees of the National Housing Trust (NHT) that the government’s aim was to ensure more families are able to live in dignity and the policies of the NHT were important in achieving that objective. Mrs Simpson Miller who addressed staff at an NHT function on Friday (June 8) emphasised the importance of providing quality service to all clients. The Prime Minister was presented with a token of appreciation from the NHT’s Executive Director, Cecile Watson. Also participating were Chairman of the NHT (2nd L) Easton Douglas and Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, Luther Buchanan.

According to the Prime Minister, the NHT employees occupied a special place in the nation and they had a responsibility to deliver quality service to beneficiaries, some of whom will be going through hard times. In her remarks, Mrs Simpson Miller said that the government seeks to restore dignity to the lives of many families through decent housing and charged the staff to treat all clients well, especially if they were senior citizens, and despite their economic circumstances.
