The fifth Prime Minister of Jamaica, Edward Seaga held the office for two successive terms from 1980 to 1989 and was leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) from 1974 until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Seaga was elected Member of Parliament for Western Kingston in April, 1962 and held the seat for 40 consecutive years. Mr. Seaga died on his 89th birthday on May 28, 2019.
