Custos Rotulorum for Hanover, Hon. Dr. David Stair, is assisted by student of Cacoon Primary and Infant School in the parish, Ryanna Stewart, in laying flowers in tribute to National Hero and Jamaica’s first Prime Minister, the Right Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante. The occasion was a floral tribute ceremony commemorating the 140th anniversary of Sir Alexander’s birth on Saturday (February 24) at his birthplace in Blenheim, Hanover.
Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) Assistant General Secretary, Colin Virgo (left), was among the persons attending Saturday’s (February 24) floral tribute ceremony marking the 140th anniversary of the birth of National Hero and Jamaica’s first Prime Minister, the Right Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante. The event was held at Sir Alexander’s birthplace in Blenheim, Hanover. Joining Mr. Virgo are (from left): Director of Public Education and Communication, Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT), Lorna Bailey; second runner-up in the 2023 Miss Hanover Festival Queen competition, Diannjra Wilson; Director, Community Cultural Development Services Division, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Marjorie Leyden-Kirton, and Assistant Manager of Technical Operations, JNHT, David Ricketts.
