A release from the Ministry urges Jamaicans who may have been in contact with other persons exhibiting these symptoms to contact its offices if they have concerns.

According to the release, most infected persons will have mild illnesses, which can be managed at home with rest, fluids and medication for fever and mild respiratory symptoms.

The public is also being urged to adhere to infection prevention and control measures.

These include maintaining a distance of at least one metre from persons who are coughing or sneezing; frequent and thorough handwashing with soap and water or utilising a sanitiser if hands are not visibly soiled; covering the mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and properly discarding it; and resisting the habit to touch your face.

The Ministry encourages Jamaicans to play their part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
