According to Acting Group Managing Director of the PCJ, Nigel Logan, the seminar is a must for persons who want to learn about the different facets of energy and the technologies that they can utilize to enhance their quality of life.

“The high cost of energy and the recent spike in oil prices further emphasize the need for us to press ahead with the development of renewable energy and the application of energy efficient technologies and practices in every aspect of our lives and all national activities. For this to happen we must develop the intellectual capital of our people so that they can understand Jamaica’s energy situation, appreciate the business opportunities that are emerging and make informed energy choices”, he explained.

The mandate of the PCJ is to undertake the development and promotion of Jamaica's energy resources in a manner that is beneficial to the country and protects the environment. On Wednesday February 9, 2011 the PCJ launched its energy seminar series under the theme “Jamaica’s Energy Future” as part of its efforts to foster informed public discussion on energy. This is the first of a number of seminars that will be hosted in Kingston and other parishes throughout the year.
