Prime Minister P.J. Patterson will be a guest on NBC’s ‘Today Show’ tomorrow (Wednesday, September 14).The Prime Minister, who departed the island yesterday (September 12) for New York, where he will be addressing the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in his capacity as Chairman of the Group of 77 and China on September 17, will appear on the television newsmagazine programme between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. for a live interview, which can be seen locally on cable television.
Also on Thursday, September 15, Mr. Patterson will again be gracing foreign television screens on the Travel Channel in a documentary programme billed, ‘Jamaica: The Ultimate Tour’, set to air at 10:00 p.m.
The documentary is a unique collaboration between the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and journalist, Peter Greenberg of the Travel Channel.
‘Jamaica: The Ultimate Tour’ is a personal journey around the island as seen through the eyes of Prime Minister Patterson and provides an inspiring perspective on the cultural diversity and adventurous opportunities throughout the island.
On Saturday, September 17, Mr. Patterson will conclude his list of overseas engagements when he addresses the general session of the UN, as well as the High Level Plenary of the UN. He will also participate in meetings related to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Prime Minister’s focus in his address to the General Assembly will be the reform of the UN. He is expected to push for the advancement of the development agenda on behalf of developing countries, as well as for the creation of more equitable international financial systems.
Mr. Patterson is due to return to the island on Sunday, September 18.
