Parish Council Cleaning Drains in St. Ann

October 1, 2009

The Full Story

The St. Ann Parish Council is undertaking drain cleaning work across the parish, in preparation for expected increase in rainfall in the upcoming months.
Secretary/Manager at the Council, Clinton Gordon, told JIS News that $3 million has been allocated for the work, while various Members of Parliament (MPs) for the parish have pledged financial support.
He said that even though the work would be carried out in all the divisions, special attention would be given to seven areas, which are prone to flooding.
“We are going to be focussing on areas like Cave Valley, Pedro River Basin, sections of St. Ann’s Bay, Swamp in the Moneague area, Lakeside Park, sections of Lime Hall and the Ocho Rios areas, which have suffered in the past from surface flooding,” Mr. Gordon informed.
He is appealing to residents to support the effort now underway by keeping the drains in their communities clean.
