Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Honourable Olivia Grange commended Jamaica’s athletes for their “gutsy” performance at the recently concluded Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“Our Paralympians did well in Rio. We had a very small team – just 3 athletes – they made quite the impact at the Games. Each member of the team gave of their best as they carried our flag high,” Minister Grange said.

Shane Hudson placed 4th in the T46 400m with a season’s best of 49.07 seconds. Alphanso Cunningham, recorded a season’s best to finish 5th  in the javelin F53/F54, however, injury restricted him from completing the rounds in the shot put. Dana-Gaye Weller placed sixth in the Women’s F51 club throw by recording a career’s best of 12.21 metres.

“Let us continue to support all our athletes as they represent our country,” the Minister said.
