Five senior media persons, including the Jamaica Information Service’s (JIS) Senior Production Coordinator, Seaton Richards, were honoured on Wednesday (December 1), at the Press Association of Jamaica’s (PAJ) Veterans’ Luncheon at Wray and Nephew Limited, Kingston.
The luncheon kicks-off Journalism Week annually, by honouring veteran media professionals. This year it targeted persons who have served behind the scenes in various technical positions, including the Gleaner’s Ronald Berry, who served the newspaper as a printer then as a proofreader in later years, dating back to 1963.
Mr. Richards started out as a National Youth Service trainee at the JIS in 1975, and has been permanently employed in video and audio capacities since 1979. He has also served as senior videographer, senior editor, TV Department Manager and Special Projects Coordinator. He is currently Senior Production Coordinator.
He has worked with five different Prime Ministers, and currently co-produces and directs Prime Minister Bruce Golding’s monthly radio call in show, “Jamaica House Live”.
Other persons honoured at the function were: CVM TV’s Engineering Manager, Leslie Campbell; Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC) Production Engineer, Kirk Buchanan; and RJR Communication Group’s Group Engineering Manager, Carroll Lawrence.
