ORCHID SHOW IN OCHO RIOS JANUARY 18

Orchid lovers from Jamaica and those visiting from abroad will be able to view several varieties on January 18, when the Ocho Rios Orchid Society in
St. Ann stages its ninth orchid show at the Jamaica Grande Hotel, in the resort town, from 11: 00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Dubbed ‘Orchid 2004’, the show will be boosted by the participation of other clubs, including the Mandeville, Montego Bay and Jamaica Orchid Societies.
President of the Society in Ocho Rios, Janet Duffy, told JIS News that about 14 booths would be set up, displaying a variety of orchids from organizations such as Discovery Bay Garden Centre, Kirk Hoo Orchid Supplies & Orchids, Shirley White Orchids, Ancile Glouden Orchids, Claude Hamilton Orchids and Tai Flora Services Limited.
Also displaying their products would be National Commercial Bank (NCB), Metalfab Designs and Seville Pottery.
Mrs. Duffy added that there would also be an auction, as well as the sale of orchids and other plants, including palms, anthuriums and roses.
She pointed out that there would be an update on orchid culture, a demonstration on local floral arrangement, and a raffle, “which will see many, many prizes donated by local businesses”.
The grand prize for the raffle draw will be a ‘week-end for two’ at the Jamaica Grande Hotel.
