The Full Story

Business entities are being encouraged to support the upcoming Outsource2Jamaica 2025 (O2J2025) Conference scheduled for April 11, 2025 in Montego Bay, St James.

The annual event will be held under the theme ‘Driving Excellence: Talent Technology and Transformation’ and is expected to showcase Jamaica’s immense potential as a hub for business process outsourcing (BPO), knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), and information technology-enabled services (ITES).

Global and local leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders within Jamaica’s global services sector are expected to attend the event.

Speaking at a Jamaica Information Service Think Tank on Monday (March 3), at the Agency’s Television Department, Chair of the O2J2025 Conference, Gloria Henry, said it is a tremendous opportunity for sponsors to come on board.

“This is an opportunity for sponsors to come on board, be a part of the linkages, contribute to the value-chain, to be part of the ecosystem that supports this industry and also benefits from this industry,” she said.

Among the main sponsors are the Jamaica Promotions Agency, Port Authority of Jamaica, Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority, Unique Vacations Limited, ATL Automotive and the Development Bank of Jamaica.

“We do have a number of sponsors, and sponsors will get the opportunity for visibility to connect with buyers and have a presence in the space,” she said,

Ms. Henry further highlighted that the Conference offers more than just an opportunity for overseas operators.

“This is a dynamic economic opportunity that supports various sectors, banking, that supports telecommunications and persons within the industry space and persons within the transportation services,” she added.

Ms. Henry, who is also Vice President of BPO and Logistics at the Port Authority of Jamaica, said persons can participate in the Conference by registering on www.outsource2Jamaica.com or contact the Global Services Secretariat at 876-313-4699 to get information. They can also send an email to secretary@gsaj.org or admin@gsaj.org.

She mentioned that more than 300 attendees are expected at the Conference, including students from schools around the area.

“We also invite students who are not in that target group but we usually bring them in for the final leg of the event so they can see, they can be a part of the job fair and learn about the sector,” she said.

President of Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) Wayne Sinclair said that the GSAJ is partnering with Peter Ryan of Ryan Strategic Advisory firm to have a selected suite of buyers to connect with service providers.

“Peter has extensive contacts and experience in the Call Centre industry. We have engaged him to bring buyers to Jamaica who will be vetted and who we have ensured that are not just coming to relax on the beach, but people who are actively seeking to do business in Jamaica.

“We are bringing persons here to see what Jamaica has to offer. It’s going to be incumbent upon persons to understand that these opportunities are coming. They are going to be here specifically to do business and for us to follow up and ensure we take advantage of the opportunities,” he continued.

The GSAJ is the leading representative body serving the information and communications technology, logistics outsourcing and business process outsourcing (contact centre) sectors in Jamaica.
