The Government of Jamaica will accord an official funeral for the late former President of the Senate, Mrs Syringa Marshall-Burnett, CD, JP.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the University Chapel, University of the West Indies, Mona commencing at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will be at a later date.

Condolence Books have been opened at the University of the West Indies School of Nursing and the National Council for Senior Citizens on West King’s House Road.

Mrs. Marshall-Burnett contributed to nation building in many areas including health, education and politics. She served as Jamaica’s 8th President of the Senate from 1995-2007. In 1990, she was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander in recognition of her contribution to the field of nursing.

The former Senator died on Friday, October 10.
