The late Hon. James Thompson, CD, JP, former Custos and Member of Parliament for North East Westmoreland is to be accorded an official funeral.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George’s Church, Savanna-la-Mar, with Interment at the Holy Trinity Church, Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will be represented at the service by Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Minister Hon Robert Pickersgill, while former Prime Minister the Most Hon. P J Patterson will deliver the Remembrance. Lessons will be read by His Excellency the Governor General and the Leader of the Opposition.
In paying tribute to the former Parliamentarian, Prime Minister Simpson Miller said James Thompson provided yeoman service on behalf of the people of parish of Westmoreland and made a sterling contribution to the national and political life of the country, and that with his passing, the country had lost one of its most loyal public servants.
