The National Works Agency (NWA) will be closing a section of the Junction main road, St. Mary, on Wednesday (August 11), a release from the NWA Tuesday (August 10) has stated.
The roadway will be closed for two hours, between 12 noon and 2 p.m. in the community of Devon Pen, in order to facilitate the relaying of a damaged culvert.
Manager of Communications and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the two feet plastic culvert was damaged by fire of unknown origin, and must be replaced immediately to ensure the safety of the travelling public. Mr. Shaw says there is no alternative route and is therefore advising persons intending to travel along the roadway, from Tom’s River to Broadgate, Wednesday, to schedule their trips outside of the period of closure.
He says the NWA is also urging users of the roadway to obey the posted warning signs, and the signals of the flag-persons.
