August 31, 2006

The Full Story

The National Works Agency (NWA) has closed the main road between White Hall and Water Valley in St. Mary, to facilitate repairs to the roadway, which was badly damaged during heavy rains last year.
The work is being undertaken under segment three of the Northern Coastal Highway project, which covers the distance between Ocho Rios and Port Antonio.
Collin Morrison, Community Relations Officer for the National Works Agency said the alternate routes are Salem, Rosend, Top Albany, Lebanon and White Marl to the west and Lebanon Top Albany, Water Valley and Annotto Bay to the east.
He said that the necessary repairs have already been completed on the alternative routes, to enable the smooth flow of vehicular traffic, and made a special appeal to motorists to obey warning and directional signs while using those routes.
PIHL Construction Company will carry out the work, which is expected to last for three months.
