KINGSTON — Cabinet has approved a US$568,000 contract to IBM World Trade Corporation (Jamaica) Limited for the supply of two IBM AS/400 Power 7 servers to the National Housing Trust (NHT).
Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz made the revelation during September 29 post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
He said the NHT currently uses the IBM AS/400 servers as the main platform for its critical application systems.
“The NHT is seeking to replace three of its current AS/400 servers as they are proving too costly to maintain,” he said.
The contract was awarded on the recommendations of the National Contracts Commission and the Infrastructure Subcommittee.
