The National Housing Trust (NHT) is the winner of the prestigious Jamaica Employers’ Federation (JEF) Employer of Choice Award for 2013/2014.

The NHT emerged from a competitive pack of 11 local and international companies to take top honours at the JEF’s fourth staging of the Employer of Choice Competition Awards Ceremony, at the 32nd Annual Business and Workplace Convention, held at the Sunset Jamaica Grand Resort and Spa, in Ocho Rios on Saturday, May 10.

The competition saw CEMEX Jamaica Limited placing second and Digicel Jamaica Limited third.

The JEF Employer of Choice competition recognises employers within its membership, which have organisational systems and processes that promote a stable work environment, management and operational excellence, and productivity and competitiveness, locally and internationally.

Candidates underwent a series of interviews and rigorous analysis conducted by the JEF to determine eligibility for the award. NHT also copped the sectional awards for ‘Occupational Safety and Health’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’. The Trust shared the latter with Vista Print Jamaica.

Other sectional awards went to Digicel for ‘Learning and Development’, and ‘Employee Communication’.  Meanwhile, the inaugural award for Environmental Management was taken by Vistaprint, and the Apprenticeship/Internship Programme award went to Mayberry Investments Limited which also took the sectional award for ‘Employee Satisfaction Ratings’.
