KINGSTON – The Ministry of Education has condemned the vicious killing of 16-year-old Cornwall College student, Matthew Reid, on Saturday, March 26.
In a release Monday, the Ministry said:
“The Ministry expresses condolences to the Reid family and Cornwall College. It is very unfortunate that we live in a society where students are exposed to violence and predatory behaviour on their way to and from school.
“We encourage parents to ensure that children walk in groups, in their daily commute to and from school, so that they can assist and protect each other. We are also urging students to keep all cell phones shielded when in public areas.
“A trauma team from the Ministry of Education will be visiting Cornwall College offer grief counselling. The Ministry hopes the vicious perpetrators of the killing of Matthew will be quickly apprehended and justice served”.
