He said that 80 per cent of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was used for infrastructure improvements for 29 basic schools in his Central Clarendon constituency. Having honoured his commitment to the basic schools, he said that he would now focus on 14-18-year-old youths.
The Caribbean Maritime Institute is establishing a training section for the aeronautical and maritime industry, which will provide jobs for 14-18-year-olds who attend high schools in the community, to give them an opportunity to be trained.
He said that he has a commitment from the Singapore aeronautical industry for the use of their training manuals.
He said that, in spite of the financial challenges that the country faces, it must rebuild infrastructure in the communities, so that the people can have the pride in them and identify with where they are from, who they are and what they are about.
The Bucknor/Rectory Lands Integrated Infrastructure Package and the Multi-purpose Centre are been funded by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IRDB), and executed by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) under the Inner City Basic Services Project (ICBSP).
It also receives sponsorship from the Bucknor Concerned Citizens Benevolent Society.
It is projected to create improvement in water supply, rehabilitation and construction of roads and storm water infrastructure, construction of a multi-purpose complex comprised of shops, offices, library, meeting hall, kitchen and male and female restrooms.
Both projects upon completion will have a combined value of $100 million.
