The Full Story

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, has reported that the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project in St. James is “progressing steadily” and is approximately 30 per cent complete.

Making his contribution to the 2024/25 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday (March 21), Mr. Holness reminded that the project includes the Montego Bay Bypass Road (15km), the Long Hill Bypass (11km), the Barnett Street/West Green Avenue Road Rehabilitation, and a Comprehensive Drainage Study of the Montego Bay Bypass area.

The project is being implemented by the National Road Operating and Constructing Company (NROCC).

It began in 2019 and is slated to end in March 2028, with the aim of creating a safe and reliable alternative route for motorists intent on travelling across and within Montego Bay.

This will result in less congestion within the city and the opening up of new lands to facilitate structured developments as well as providing a greater link to the toll road network.

For fiscal year 2024/25, a budgetary allocation of $10.2 billion has been made for the project.
