The Montego Bay business community yesterday (June 26) bade farewell to Chief Executive Officer of Montego Bay Jamaica (MBJ) Airports Limited, Jorge Sales, who over the last three years, has led the project to transform the Sangster International Airport into a world class facility.
At the farewell function held at the Three Palms Restaurant near the Rose Hall Resort and Country Club, gifts and kind words were showered on the developer, who leaves the island to take up new assignment in Mexico.
President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pauline Reid, in her tribute, noted that Mr. Sales had captured the hearts of many.
“Mr. Sales, the business community of Montego Bay and moreso the Chamber have grown to respect you for your honesty, integrity and professional standards. You have really been a stalwart and great supporter of the community,” Ms. Reid said.
Mr. Sales, in his reply, expressed appreciation to the many persons associated with the airport expansion and modernization project, whom he said, have given him full support.
He noted that his mandate, when he came to the island three and a half years ago, was to serve the people of Jamaica in general and Montego Bay in particular and he has spent the time trying to accomplish that goal to the best of his ability.
“My wife and I came here with the task of helping MBJ to develop the airport for the local community and the wider country and I feel we had achieved this despite the hard work and the challenges and have enjoyed our time here. I can’t say that it has been easy but I would say that it has been easier than expected because of the support that we have received from everybody. I thank you all and wish for my successor, all the success and that he will fulfill all the expectations,” Mr. Sales said.
Fernando Boskae, will take over the job of CEO of the MBJ Airports Limited.
