The Full Story

Moneague College in St. Ann recently held a Celebratory Congress to mark its institutional accreditation designation by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ).

The event was part of the commemorative events marking the conferment in April 2023.

Institutional accreditation refers to the status granted to an institution, deemed to have met or exceeded established standards for educational quality.

It involves a comprehensive evaluation of the institution and its academic and administrative systems.

During the congress, Assistant Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Youth, Skills and Information’s Tertiary Unit, Dr. Tamika Benjamin, lauded the College on its achievement.

“The process of securing institutional accreditation is a rigorous one which requires that every part of an institution’s operations is aligned with the highest standards of academic and operational quality,” she said.

Noting that the accreditation “is not just a stamp of approval”, Dr. Benjamin said, “it is a symbol of Moneague’s credibility, stability and commitment to providing a high-quality education for every student”.

Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner of the Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (J-TEC), Dr. Daemon Black, also commended Moneague College, noting that the institution’s accreditation was a significant milestone.

“As a multidisciplinary institution, the Moneague College has consistently demonstrated its ability to adapt and evolve in response to changing demographics and societal norms,” he stated.

“In the face of an aging population, Moneague has taken proactive steps to diversify its student recruitment strategies, embrace innovative marketing approaches, and foster partnerships with local communities and industries. So I want to salute Moneague College; you are to be commended in this regard,” Dr. Black added.

A thanksgiving service was also held during the two-day celebrations, held under the theme ‘’Reflection and Transformation: Celebrating a Journey of Excellence’.
