The board, management and members of the Montego Bay Co-operative Credit Union are mourning the untimely passing of its president, Bishop Herman Johnson.
Bishop Johnson, who resided at Greenwood in St. James, died Thursday morning February 3 at the Falmouth Hospital, Trelawny while undergoing emergency treatment resulting from a fall from a tree at his home. He would have celebrated his 70th birthday next week Thursday (February 10).
A long standing member of the credit union, he was elected president of the board in 2008, serving creditably in that position up until his untimely death.
Bishop Johnson, along with his wife, Lelieth, founded the Greenwood Preparatory School and the Good News Church of God, with headquarters in Adelphi, St. James. He was also a long-standing Justice of the Peace for St. James and, from the vantage point of these major occupations, impacted the lives of thousands of persons of all ages in Adelphi, Greenwood and adjoining communities.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Lavonne Johnson-Earle, and granddaughter, Gabrielle.
