Ministry of Finance’s Health Sector Meeting Tuesday

Senator the Hon Arthur Williams, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, will meet with heads of unions/associations representing the Health Sector on Tuesday (February 9), to discuss the Industrial Disputes Tribunal’s (IDT) ruling in the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) reclassification dispute, among other issues.
The issue involves a claim on the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service regarding the reclassification of the nurses. The IDT’s ruling confirmed the Government’s position that the reclassification exercise was not for solely for Nurses, and if dealt with as a one-sector exercise, would lead to unwanted industrial unrest in the Health Sector.
Accordingly, all parties will be issued with bound copies of the Reclassification Document and will have an opportunity to review and thereafter make submissions. The meeting is scheduled for 9 am.
