The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service has acknowledged receipt of the Report on the Nurses Reclassification exercise from the Review Panel.
This information has been conveyed to the Ministry of Health and the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ), according to a release issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The release stated as follows:
“Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Senator the Honourable Arthur Williams, today wrote to the Nurses Association ofJamaica and the Ministry of Health, advising them that in accordance with the extension of time that he gave to the Review Panel on August 14, he has received the Report on the Nurses Reclassification exercise.
“Minister Williams further advised that, in accordance with the terms of reference signed by the parties, he will thereafter send copies of the Report to the Ministry of Health and the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ).
“Minister Williams is reminding all parties that the written agreement, which established the Review Panel, provides that all parties agree to accept therecommendations of the Panel and asked for continued co-operation in this matter.”
The issue dates back to 2006, when the nurses were assured a reclassification of their positions, which should result in substantial pay increases.
