Minister with responsibility for information, telecommunications and special projects in the Office of the Prime Minister, Daryl Vaz, will attend the information technology convention and trade fair, Informática 2011, which will be held in Havana, Cuba from February 7-11. The Minister will return to Jamaica on February 9.

At the invitation of the Cuban Minister of Information and Communication, Minister Vaz will also deliver a short address to the delegates on Jamaica’s advancements in the sector.

Of significance is that Jamaica, Cuba and Venezuela will be connected in a few days when the undersea fibre optic cable project is completed.

The Minister will be accompanied by a delegation of two officers from the Ministry. This year’s conference is the 14th staging of the event and the theme is Convergent Technologies, Integration and Independence with organizers aiming to promote the scientific advances, new technologies and new features of the sector.
