Minister Neita Headley Congratulates Special Olympians

Minister Without Portfolio with Responsibility for Sport in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Natalie Neita Headley, has sent a congratulatory message to Nigel Davis and Tamra Mitchell after their success on Sunday, February 3 in ice figure skating at the Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in South Korea.

Nigel Davis placed second in the Singles Male Level One category and later on skated with Tamra Mitchell to capture another silver medal in the Teams Level One segment.

“There is no doubt that Jamaica is a great country filled with extraordinary, talented individuals as was displayed by our special Olympians at the Winter Games. Nigel and Tamra have made us proud and on behalf of the people of Jamaica I extend heartiest congratulations to them on their achievement,” said Minister Neita Headley.

“This historic accomplishment is an inspiration to all of us. We salute your performance and wish you all the best in future competitions. You have done us proud. I also salute your coach, Ms. Jacqueline Bennett who must be beaming with pride and joy. This spectacular feat would not have been possible without her commitment and hard work. We thank you for your service to this country and hope that the team will grow from strength to strength under your guidance,” she added.

The 11th Special Olympics World Winter Games is a multi-sports event being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea from January 29 through February 5, 2013.
