Minister of National Security, Hon. Peter Bunting, is participating in the fourth meeting of Security Ministers of the Americas, now underway in Medellin, Colombia.

Making the announcement at the Jamaica House press briefing, on November 20, Minister of Information, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, noted that Cabinet had approved the official travel.

Held under the auspices of the Organistion of American States (OAS), the hemispheric forum facilitates the sharing of information and experiences on matters of public security and the strengthening of co-operation on organised crime, and the maintenance of peace and security. The meeting concludes November 21.

She said Minister Bunting will also participate in the United Kingdom/Colombia joint counter narcotics meeting in Bogota.

This year’s meeting will feature presentations by UK and Colombian experts on counter narcotics operations in Colombia, and on international assistance and co-operation.

Minister Bunting is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Major General Stewart Saunders.
