The Founders of the Mineral Heights Christian Kinder-Preparatory School in Clarendon have been praised for embodying all that is good about Jamaica.
Minister of Labour and Social Security and Member of Parliament for Clarendon South Eastern, where the school is located, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr., said the founders, Pastor Isaac Scott, and his wife, Sharon Scott, who is the institution’s Principal, “represent the kind of wholesome family values that, it seems, many of us had lost.”
He noted that the school’s 25 years of existence, “is reflective of a vision that was planted, nurtured and watered, so that young minds in this community [of Mineral Heights and beyond] could be guided in the right direction.
“When I think about what the Scotts have done, are doing now, and continue to do, I feel hopeful for Jamaica,” the Minister said, while thanking them for their “unwavering commitment to the school and wider community” over the period.
He was speaking during the school’s 25th anniversary thanksgiving service at the Mineral Heights Church of Christ on Sunday (September 1), which was held under the theme ‘Celebrating Our Past – Soaring Into The Future’.
Mr. Charles also thanked the dedicated teachers, staff, parents, and past and present students contributing to the institution’s success.
“Your commitment, love and contribution have played a significant role in what this school is today. So… on behalf of the entire [community], I want to thank each and every individual who has chosen to support this school,” Minister Charles said.
Early Childhood Commission (ECC) Inspector for Region VII, Shereca Rowe, also commended the institution for its outstanding achievements.
“On this, your 25th anniversary, the ECC congratulates you on reaching an incredible milestone, and for your dedication to fostering and nurturing a stimulating learning environment that has touched the lives of many,” she stated.
Ms. Rowe indicated that Mineral Heights Christian Kinder-Prep is among the few schools in the Region that are either certified early-childhood institutions or have departments catering to youngsters in this cohort.
“In Region VII, we have about 200 early-childhood institutions, and under 20 schools [including Mineral Heights Christian Kinder-Prep] have received a certificate for registration. So good things are happening at Mineral Heights Christian Kinder-Prep,” she said.
Minister Charles and Ms. Rowe encouraged the institution to continue inspiring curiosity, championing growth and building a brighter future for all who pass through its doors.
