A Mental Health Toolkit for use by athletes, coaches and other support personnel is expected to be launched later this year.

Making her contribution to the 2022/23 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on June 8, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, informed that the toolkit will be launched at a conference on Safeguarding Children in Sport.

She said the toolkit is a follow-up to the mental health forum and the Ministry’s funding of a mental health and wellness course at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport.

“We continue to focus on ensuring the good mental health of our sports people,” the Minister added.

Additionally, she said in partnership with Fight for Peace Jamaica, 90 officers from national sports federations and government sports agencies have been trained in Psychological First Aid.
